The waterproofing of a tunnel structure is a key factor and has a major impact on the service lifetime of the tunnel. HDPE geomembrane liners are probably the most suitable waterproofing system as their wide roll dimensions allow for faster installation and less joints. Welded HDPE joints (by double wedge or extrusion welding) are considered strong points and are 100% tested, thus guaranteeing a leak free application.
